Viva ConExpo – Welcome to our Booths!

Conexpo 2023 is finally near, and Dynaset will join the fair bigger than ever! This time we will spread hydraulic knowledge with the power of two booths. From our booths, you will find a brand new SCU Surface Cleaning Unit, launched last fall, and it has already gotten a lot of attention. You can also find SCU’s heart, HCF Hydraulic Centrifugal Fan, from our booth if you are interested of building your own suction or blowing device. Other fresh products that you can see from our booths are the new HSP Hydraulic Submersible Pumps, Blue air -compressors, and an electrically operated washing pistol just for mentioning a few. Also, the new HMG PRO Hydraulic Magnet Generator and Dsmart-application will be demoed in our indoor booth!

DYNASET SCU Surface Cleaning Unit has got a lot of attention. In March, we will bring it to ConExpo!

Come and See a State-of-the-Art Washing Truck

You will find the truck in the photo at our Conexpo booth F8038 at Festival Grounds. The truck belongs to Andersen Asphalt, a family owned paving company that is located in Utah. And by the family company, we mean a true family business because a total of four Andersens work for the company!

The truck is built on Freightliner M2 chassis, and it has an 8-liter engine and two hydraulic PTOS, which power up the hydraulic equipment installed on it. To outsiders, the truck looks a lot like a basic tank truck with its 2000 gallon tank. But why does the paving company have a such truck? We asked this from the company owner Derek Andersen directly.

Freightliner M2 tank truck in the US with street washing equipment.
This is Andersen Asphalt’s Freightliner M2 with top-notch equipment. With a 2000-gallon tank and double spray bar system the asphalt is prepared for coating in no time.
  • It is basically a multi-use tank truck. The primary use for it is to prepare streets and clean the pavement before we preserve them. Washing is much more effective with it than dry cleaning which is a phenomenon in the industry. We also use it to offload a larger amount of water and for loading other trucks. We also do parking lot washing as a side business.

Asphalt is full of pores, and these pores trap dust and dirt. At the same time, any dry cleaning doesn’t really clean those pores as well as water does. Andersen Asphalt provides an asphalt seal coating that extends the lifespan of the asphalt itself. For that, the surface has to be as clean as possible so the coating adheres well.

  • Of course, you could manually wash streets with a power-washing pistol, but the spray bar is consistent and fast. The idea is that our double spray bar works together: the first bar with higher water volume pushes most of the dirt away and the second bar with higher pressure and less volume really cleans the pores. It looks like such equipment will become more familiar in the US, and customers will implement such equipment into vehicle specification sheets as a requirement for street washing, said Derek.

Andersen Asphalt’s truck has two washing pipes in the front for a spotless result. “The first bar with higher water volume pushes most of the dirt away and the second bar with higher pressure and less volume cleans the pores,” said Derek Andersen, owner of the company.

The truck is truly a piece of art regarding its equipment. What equipment does it carry?

  • We actually get a lot of head-turning with the truck because such is not that common in the US. Many have seen snowplows and such, but nothing like this. The truck now has two DYNASET Hydraulic High Pressure Water Pumps, HPW 320, HPW 130, and a hose reel with a power washing pistol. Also, we are installing an HCF Hydraulic Centrifugal Fan to it. The HCF 3400-90 will be used for dry cleaning and as a follow-up for washing to blow the mud off the street. The truck also has four cameras that allow us to see a sort of bird-eye view of what’s going on around us, making work safer for everyone.

DYNASET HCF Hydraulic Centrifugal Fan is a high-volume fan for suction and air-blowing tasks. This same fan powers DYNASET SCU Surface Cleaning Unit’s suction and HRVB Hydraulic Recycling Vacuum Bucket’s suction and air blowing.

Dynaset products are inspired by the will to make working easier. Derek’s firm’s truck is an excellent example of that. How has hydraulic equipment helped you to succeed in your job?

  • Before the truck, we used to have 4-5 guys to dry clean a street with blowers, broom attachments, and lots of elbow grease. With this truck, we can do the same basically with one laborer. In the bigger picture, DYNASET products have enabled us to differentiate ourselves and impress our customers with “out-of-the-box” thinking. These solutions provide us with new opportunities to us. The biggest benefit that we get out of Dynaset products is compact size.

The equipment was delivered through a local DYNASET Dealer called Kanon Enterprises in Iowa. The company sold the first Dynaset products, a couple of HK450 hydraulic compressors, in 2015. Nowadays, it equips service and utility trucks with various DYNASET hydraulic equipment.

  • These compact products are not so familiar here in the US yet, and they require a little bit of initiative to sell these here because they are a little different than the way of things are usually done here. And that’s why they have huge potential in the US. For example, Dynaset’s compact compressors can replace big diesel-powered compressors, said Janne “Fritz” Ekstam, the owner of Kanon Enterprises.

So there you have many reasons to visit the world of hydraulics in ConExpo 2023! See you in Las Vegas! Our booth numbers are Festival Grounds — F8038 and North Hall — N12563.
