The construction of a brand new tramway is going on in Tampere, Finland. The star of the worksite is a five-year-old excavator that has special equipment for railway maintenance. The set of equipment includes a hydraulic generator. You may recognize the excavator from the article about the tramway power washing application. The excavator is owned by Kaivinyhtymä M.Palonen. Markku Palonen is the owner of the company. He has done different kinds of track maintenance tasks for almost 30 years.

How Generator Helps Him?

The generator has been onboard since the excavator’s day one. We asked from Markku how it has helped him during the last five years.

“It is a good helper when you need electricity. I personally use it for fuel pumps and for charging hand tools’ batteries. Also, I can get electricity fast from it for submersible pumps when I need to empty a trench from the water. Actually, having the generator onboard solves quite many problematic situations. It kind of brought easiness to my days because I don’t need to bring a diesel generator or such to the worksite.” summarizes Markku Palonen from Kaivinyhtymä K.Palonen.
