Kanon Enterprises is a one-person company run by Janne “Fritz” Ekstam in Iowa. Fritz has been working with hydraulics almost his entire life: his father ran a company that manufactured hydraulic cylinders, and Fritz has previously worked with hydraulic cranes. Now he’s lending his expertise to multiple companies while Kanon Enterprises is growing to the point where he can work on it full-time. So it’s safe to say he knows his stuff when it comes to hydraulics.
How Did the Cooperation Start?
One year at ConExpo, coincidentally, Dynaset’s booth was right next to Kanon Enterprises’ booth, and Fritz decided to look at Dynaset’s products. He was intrigued, and later that year, he chose to participate in a Dynaset’s dealer meeting, and soon he became an official Dynaset dealer.
He sold the first Dynaset products, a couple of HK450 hydraulic compressors, in 2015. Nowadays, he equips service and utility trucks with hydraulic equipment such as the HPW Hydraulic High Pressure Water Pumps, KPL High Pressure Street Washing Units, HG Hydraulic Generators, HWG Hydraulic Welding Generators, HK Hydraulic Piston Compressors, and HKR Hydraulic Screw Compressors. He does an essential job of assisting customers with assembling the hydraulic systems and installing them.
Deep-Cleaning of Brand-New Asphalt
Some time ago, Fritz got a message from a company called Andersen Asphalt. They had found KPL High Pressure Street Washing Unit from Dynaset’s website and were interested in using it for their application. As the name implies, Andersen Asphalt is a paving company, and they thought that they could use the KPL to clean just applied asphalt before applying a seal coat that extends the lifespan of the asphalt.
They had used a waterless brush system before, but it only removed the bigger particles off the surface, leaving the smaller particles deeper in the surface pores. This prevented the coating from adherent well enough, which was a problem that should be possible to solve with a DYNASET KPL High Pressure Street Washing Unit. They asked Fritz to help them to install a KPL High Pressure Street Washing Unit to a small skid-steer loader.
The combination of its high-pressure water spray and mechanical brushing solved the problem. After that, Fritz also built them a lightweight Ford F-550-based KPL system, equipped with a 1000-gallon water tank and HPW 320 High Pressure Water Pump. The system can be dismantled in 10 minutes, making it modular and cost-effective. The super-easy dismantling means the vehicle is not always bound into the KPL system. The system has been used for almost two years, and Fritz says it’s been successful.
