Why Choose Aerial Work Platform That Has HG Hydraulic Generator?

Self-propelled aerial access platforms, or aerial work platforms, are extremely handy machines on construction sites. That’s because workers need a stable and safe platform when they work at height. For example, in building renovations projects like in building joint renovation, some of the work is much easier to do from an aerial work platform. In these tasks, workers use electrical tools when they are working from the platform. How hydraulic generators can benefit the users of these machines?

Aerial work platforms are handy machines in construction sites. Some tasks require working at height, and platforms provide safe working conditions. For example, a building joint renovation project requires the ability to work at height.

Aerial work platforms are often equipped with an electrical socket installed onto the platform. The socket is wired via the boom of the machine, but the other end of the wire is not connected to anything. So, the socket on the platform is basically the end of an extension cord pre-installed into the boom. To get electricity out of the socket, you need to attach the other end of the cord to an electricity supply.

Aerial work platform’s sockets and their wiring can transfer the electricity from the ground onto the platform.
Modern aerial work platforms have electricity sockets on the platform but they need a power supply. Without connecting the other end of their wire to the power supply, they can’t provide electricity. If the platform doesn’t have the pre-installed cable, mechanics can install it.

Where to Get Electricity?

So, the user of the platform needs a power supply. Basically, there are three options: power grid, gasoline or diesel generator, or hydraulic generator.

The main benefit of equipping platforms with hydraulic generators is that the aerial work platform can produce electricity itself with it. So, instead of using an electricity grid or combustion engine generator via a long extension cord as the power supply, you can produce the electricity with your machine. In other words, you do not need to play with extension cords. In other words, the user can move the machine freely without worrying about the extension cords.

The workers can use power tools like angled grinders because the generator that is installed into the aerial work platform produces electricity. With the hydraulic generator, the workers don’t need to connect the platform to an external power supply.

How Is the Installation?

Aerial work platforms often use hydraulic power to lifting tasks. This makes the installation of a hydraulic generator easy because the machine already has a hydraulic system. That’s why aerial work platforms, bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and such are perfect machines to have a hydraulic generator.

Like you can see in the picture, the hydraulic generator is installed into the main unit of the aerial access platform. Because the hydraulic generator is installed in the main unit, it will not take up precious space on the platform itself. The electricity that is produced by the hydraulic generator is lead to the platform’s sockets via the pre-installed extension cord, which we mentioned before. And if the aerial access platform doesn’t have this pre-installed cord, mechanics can install it.

An aerial work platform is much easier to move when you don’t have to worry about the extension cords. Hydraulic Generator provides the electricity, so the user of the platform is self-sufficient in electricity.
