Who would have thought that a compressor could be the perfect match for a tomato harvester? Neither we nor our dealer, Kanon Enterprises, expected it when they received a call from a company in Pennsylvania a year ago. Now several of Pik Rite’s Tomato Harvesters are equipped with DYNASET HKR800 Hydraulic Screw Compressors. What is this all about?

Kanon Enterprises, run by Janne “Fritz” Ekstam, is our long-standing dealer in Iowa, USA. Ekstam has worked with hydraulics almost his entire life and is now sharing his expertise with multiple companies across the US. Our valuable cooperation with Kanon Enterprises started ten years ago, and nowadays, the company sells a large variety of DYNASET Products. They have successfully applied DYNASET products in various applications with the HPW Hydraulic High Pressure Water product family, HK Hydraulic Piston Compressors, HG Hydraulic Generators, HWG Hydraulic Welding Generators, and HPI Hydraulic Pressure Intensifiers.

Pik Rite Tomato Harvester 
 
Pik Rite is a manufacturer of different harvesters, spreaders, dump bodies, vacuum tanks, and debris collectors. The company manufactures Tomato Harvester machines that are designed to pick up and separate leaves and weeds from tomatoes. The machines can accommodate several farm workers to handle the tomatoes that pass along the machine line.  The DYNASET HKR Hydraulic Screw Compressor, installed on the Tomato Harvester, provides an efficient solution for clearing away dirt, leaves, and weeds, ensuring cleaner tomatoes and smoother harvesting operations. It can also be used to clean the machine and provide compressed air for pneumatic tools. 

Cooperation between Kanon Enterprises and Pik Rite started about a year ago when Ekstam got a call from one of Pik Rite’s dealers in Ohio. They needed a reliable and durable compressor for the Tomato Harvester, and Ekstam had the appropriate HKR Hydraulic Screw Compressor readily available. He delivered the compressor to Ohio, and shortly after that, they ordered more. Later that year, Ekstam’s phone rang again: this time it was Pik Rite. 

During this year, Pik Rite and one of their dealers have purchased in total 16 pieces of DYNASET HKR800 Hydraulic Screw Compressors for Tomato Harvesters from Kanon Enterprises. HKR Hydraulic Screw Compressor converts the harvester’s hydraulic power into compressed air and is designed for demanding 24/7 use, making it ideal for all pneumatic applications with agricultural and construction machines or other farm vehicles. The compressor has an output of 800 l/min (28 cfm) and air pressure up to 10 bar (145 psi).

Fritz Ekstam says that the end users have been delighted with the DYNASET products, which are easy to install, efficient, and compact, and for most applications, have no direct competitors, making these products quite unique.  
 

Projects with DYNASET products 
 
In the future Ekstam and Kanon Enterprises are interested in taking the cooperation further and offering more compressors for tomato harvesting. There are also many projects going on with other customers and DYNASET products. For example, in the street washing scene where Kanon Enterprises is building several KPL High Pressure Street Washing Unit systems for trucks. There are also exciting plans to combine different sizes of HPW Hydraulic High Pressure Water Pumps and HSP Submersible Pumps into the KPL system. We hope to hear more about these projects implemented by Kanon Enterprises in the future.
