A heavy-duty service vehicle is much more than a way to transport tools. When properly equipped, it can serve as a mobile workshop that provides electricity, compressed air, high-pressure water and other forms of power directly where the work is carried out. Heavy-duty service vehicles are used in applications such as construction, maintenance, roadside services, lifting and installation work, and various special-purpose vehicles. In this article, we take a look at different heavy-duty service vehicle solutions and how they have been implemented for different applications.

A Special-Purpose Vehicle for Mobile Carpet Cleaning

Green Carpet Mattopalvelut Oy’s mobile carpet cleaning unit brings the service directly to the customer.

Green Carpet Mattopalvelut Oy is part of the Nordic PHM Group, which provides property services in several European countries. Green Carpet’s mobile carpet cleaning units bring carpet cleaning directly to the customer, placing high demands on the technology integrated into the vehicles.

To enable the cleaning equipment to operate efficiently at customer locations without external power sources, several DYNASET products have been integrated into the vehicle. The DYNASET HG Hydraulic Generator provides electricity for the cleaning equipment, while the DYNASET HKR Hydraulic Screw Compressor enables efficient carpet drying using an air knife. A hydraulic power take-off (PTO) utilizes the vehicle engine’s power to operate the entire system. The solution also includes electrical and hydraulic systems designed specifically for the customer’s application.

DYNASET products integrated into the vehicle provide electricity, compressed air and power directly where the work is carried out.

The result is a fully self-sufficient mobile work unit in which electricity, compressed air and power are all available from the same vehicle. The solution reduces the need for separate equipment and enables the work to be carried out where the customers are.

Power for a Mobile Floor Casting Unit

Ahveniston Rakennus-Palvelu Oy’s Scania R500 serves as the platform for a mobile floor casting unit.

Construction sites often require electricity in locations where grid power is not readily available. When Ahveniston Rakennus-Palvelu Oy needed a power supply for the floor casting unit to be installed on its new Scania R500, the solution was integrated directly into the vehicle.

To enable the equipment to operate efficiently on site, the vehicle was equipped with several DYNASET products. At the heart of the solution is the DYNASET HG65 Hydraulic Generator, which provides up to 65 kVA of electrical power for the floor casting equipment installed on the vehicle. Dynaset also supplied the hydraulic system required for the vehicle, including hydraulic pumps, an oil tank, coolers and control valves.

The DYNASET HG65 Hydraulic Generator installed on Ahveniston Rakennus-Palvelu’s Scania R500 provides up to 65 kVA of electrical power using the vehicle engine’s hydraulic power.

The system draws its power directly from the vehicle engine, eliminating the need for separate generators or other power sources at the worksite. The vehicle was also prepared for future requirements, as the power transmission system allows additional hydraulic functions to be integrated into the same vehicle later.

Ahveniston Rakennus-Palvelu’s Scania R500 demonstrates how a heavy-duty work vehicle can be equipped to operate as a mobile work unit. With power generation integrated into the vehicle, work can begin quickly without the need to transport, set up and maintain separate equipment.

Power for Demanding Lifting and Installation Work

Conditions vary from one site to another in demanding lifting and installation work. Electricity may be needed for tools, lighting and various installation equipment in locations where grid power is not readily available.

Kuljetusliike Kari Polvela Oy’s Volvo FH16 crane truck is equipped with an Effer iQ 1400 crane and a DYNASET HG10 Hydraulic Generator.

Kuljetusliike Kari Polvela Oy’s equipment uses a vehicle-integrated DYNASET HG10 Hydraulic Generator to produce electricity. The solution uses the vehicle’s own engine as the power source, making electricity available directly at the worksite without a separate generator.

When power generation is integrated into the vehicle, everything needed for the job travels with the same unit. This reduces the need for separate equipment and helps keep the vehicle working efficiently even in demanding lifting and installation applications.

Kuljetusliike Kari Polvela Oy’s equipment demonstrates that vehicle-integrated power generation is useful not only in service vehicles but also in lifting and installation work carried out at changing locations and under varying conditions.

Maintenance and Repair Work on the Road

Heavy-duty vehicle maintenance and roadside service work are often carried out in locations where grid power is unavailable. Electricity may be required for various tools, lighting and other equipment used for maintenance work.

Hinausautot K. Sulinko Oy’s towing and service fleet uses a vehicle-integrated DYNASET HG Hydraulic Generator to produce electricity. The solution utilizes the vehicle’s own hydraulic system and provides electricity directly where the work is carried out.

With power generation integrated into the vehicle, everything needed for the job travels with the same unit. This reduces the need for separate equipment and supports efficient work in roadside service and maintenance applications.

Mobile Workshops for Different Applications

Heavy-duty service and special-purpose vehicles can be equipped with a wide variety of applications, ranging from mobile carpet cleaning and construction sites to lifting and installation work and heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.

With Dynaset solutions, electricity, compressed air and other forms of power can be integrated into the vehicle, making the necessary tools and equipment available directly where the work is carried out. The result is a mobile workshop that reduces the need for separate equipment and helps keep the vehicle productive.

How Can a Heavy-Duty Service Vehicle Be Equipped as a Mobile Workshop?

A heavy-duty service vehicle can be equipped according to the requirements of its application. The vehicle can incorporate, for example, a DYNASET HG Hydraulic Generator for electricity, a DYNASET HKR Hydraulic Screw Compressor for compressed air, a hydraulic power take-off (PTO) and electrical and hydraulic systems designed for the customer’s specific needs.

When power is produced directly from the vehicle, the need for separate generators and compressors is reduced, allowing work to be carried out efficiently wherever the vehicle is operating.
