Viktor Leppälä – Motocross Since Early Childhood

Hello! I’m Viktor Leppälä, a 12-year-old motocross rider. I have been riding motocross since I was 3 years old. I started the driving hobby with an ATV when I was only 2 years old. I was competing abroad at the age of 6. At that time, we often went to Estonia, because there were popular series in the 50cc class. I started racing in the 65cc class on a Yamaha in 2019 and competing in the European Championship series being the best Finn. After Corona virus outbreak, I moved to the domestic series for the 2020 season, and I won the Finnish 65cc class championship.

For the 2021 season, I switched my dirtbike to a KTM and focused on the European Championship in the 65cc class. I placed third in the European Championship and was the first Finn to reach the podium in the final. At that time, the Finnish Motorcycle Association awarded me with the Junior of the Year award.

The 2022 season started well by winning the Finnish junior ice track championship. I also had a great season in the European Motocross Championship where I was the best Finn. The World Junior Championships were held in Vantaa where our the team got the silver. I won the Coupe de l’Avenir in France and with that performance Finland won the junior team silver. The Finnish Motor Association awarded my achievements with the Newcomer of the Year award.

The year 2023 was full of misfortune. The bikes’ technology failed on the ice track and in the March race I had the worst injury of my career. I broke both my legs, and the other leg even required surgery. Recovery took well into the summer and it wasn’t until the autumn when I finally was back in peak condition. I was again on the pace of the top European championship drivers In the Coupe de l’Avenir junior team event.

My goals for the 2024 season are to win both, the European and World Championships, as well as the popular German series. I am working hard to achieve those goals.
