Know-How and Product Development Management

The first example is our R&D Manager Pasi Yli-Kätkä, who is completing a master’s degree in management of technical know-how in the Seinäjoki University of Applied Science. The topic of his thesis is the management of product development. What is he doing in practice?

• The idea is to improve our current product development process. For that, I’m creating a process plan including proper descriptions of stages of it and choosing a more sophisticated tool for the process management. After all the planning, I will do a short survey about how the improved model would work in our organization. We will start using the enhanced product development process when my thesis is ready, said Pasi Yli-Kätkä.

Customer Relationship Management System Implementation as Thesis Topic

DYNASET Area Sales Manager Samuli Vornanen did a thesis during 2020 to DYNASET. In his business bachelor studies at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, he oriented into project management.

• The title of my thesis was “CRM System Implementation Instructions for Dynaset Oy.” The thesis’s theoretical side covered possible challenges and things that should be considered in this kind of project. I also created a guide for implementing CRM and arranged training for the system users on the practical side.

Samuli already worked for DYNASET during the thesis process. How did that happen?

• DYNASET Was searching for a salesperson at the beginning of 2020, and I applied for it. In the interview, we discussed the opportunity of the thesis. We first agreed about the thesis and then about the job. The first three months of working I included into my studies as an internship.

Mechanical Engineering Thesis by Production Controller Intern

Vesa Vuotovesi, a production controller intern at DYNASET, is also starting his Master’s thesis.

• I study mechanical engineering at Tampere University, and I’m starting my Master’s thesis. My topic will be related to DYNASET’s production control. However, we are still in the process of choosing and narrowing the exact topic and title. Many ideas have been on the table, like binding my thesis to a project exploring the possibilities of autonomous robot trolleys to cover part of our internal material flows. Also, we have discussed topics about layout improvements from the aspect of material flows.

Vesa’s DYNASET Career began as a summer helper in 2021 when DYNASET hired him into the production controlling department.

• I started here in July. Back then, we also talked about a longer period and possible thesis topics. The current plan is that I focus on the thesis in spring 2022. So, one summer helper vacancy got quite an extension.
