Hydramaq is one of the DYNASET Dealers, and its headquarters is in Panama. This particular dealer differs in one way about other dealers and in this article, we will tell you why. But first, how the CEO and the owner of the company, Katherina Morgan describe Hydramaq?
- My company has three pillars: myself, my husband Jorge, and my associates. At the moment we have around ten employees. Even though the Hydramaq itself was established in 2017, I’ve been working as a DYNASET Dealer since 2013. Back then the company name was Hydraulics International, recalls Katherina Morgan.
How Did Hydramaq’s DYNASET Know-how Start to Build?
Katherina already knew Dynaset before 2013 because of her degree in mechanical engineering.
- We had practice at Technological University of Panama in 2012 and Tero Ylä-Soininmäki, DYNASET HR Manager, gave an open offer for our university. I applied for this position and I won. After that, I worked in DYNASET Factory for a year. Working there was completely different. I fell in love with hydraulics, and I fell in love with the DYNASET Family.
So Hydramaq’s CEO has worked in DYNASET Factory. During the DYNASET factory year, Katherina mainly worked on the DYNASET HPW Hydraulic High Pressure Water Pump assembly line. She also translated some product manuals into Spanish, and she did some prototype development. She also took part in the new hydraulic motor development process and testing during that time. After this eventful year, Dynaset’s CEO Reijo Karppinen asked a question that made things happen.
- Reijo just said like, if you are leaving for Panama, why you wouldn’t be our dealer there. I just laughed because I was turning 23 back then. But, I thought that a lot afterward because I really liked working with Dynaset. I had to finish my degree in Panama but I thought that why wouldn’t I continue working with Dynaset. After all, I already had a lot of deep knowledge about DYNASET Products. I also was young and excited about these products because I knew them and how they were made so well. That made me believe in the DYNASET brand. ¨
The Most Sold Products Reveal the technical Know-how
Hydramaq has specialized in modifications of mining equipment. Because of that, they have sold many different DYNASET Installation Valves and they also have sold a bunch of HMV Hydraulic Modular Valve Systems.
- Biggest revenue of ours comes from modifications of mining equipment and we mostly use DYNASET HMV Valves for that. We really like the versatility and quality of them. We have also sold many hydraulic generators. Actually, one of the Dynaset’s first 60 Hz welding generators [DYNASET HWG Hydraulic Welding Generators] was delivered to us years ago and I got so emotional about that particular generator that I haven’t even sold it, says Katherina Morgan and laughs.
Customer Cases That Expanded a Lot
Katherina, and the whole Hydramaq, have supported Dynaset personnel in South America for years. One of the main reasons is the time difference. Because of that Hydramaq can sometimes provide faster responses for problems at hand. Although Katherina confesses that DYNASET Area Sales Manager Mikko Heikkilä, who is responsible for the sales area of South America, has also got a couple of support phone calls during the night-time.
We asked Katherina about interesting customer cases and she one case which underlines well the role of know-how. The first case was at one mine where Hydramaq’s personnel went to do maintenance for four DYNASET HKR Hydraulic Screw Compressors. When they got to the site, they heard about one modified loader that hydraulic problems due to the faulty design of the hydraulic system. This loader was modified to use and carry a huge cable reel and the hydraulics of the machine was not working as intended.
- We started to maintain the compressors and this modified loader was beside us. Mine personnel just asked me can I suggest a solution to the hydraulics problem of it. We thought of the case with Jorge and we just decided to replace some valves with DYNASET HMW Hydraulic Modular Valve System. It fixed the problem and they liked it. Now we have repaired five loaders using the same method. The customer especially likes the robustness of the HMV. It was funny because we just went for a small inspection and we ended up fixing five loaders, tells Katherina.

- I think that I am always talking with friends when I’m communicating with Dynaset personnel.
